US President Barack Obama has appealed to Americans for restraint, after protests and outrage from civil rights activists over the acquittal of a man who gunned down an unarmed black teenager. A Florida jury late Saturday found night watchguard George Zimmerman not guilty of murdering unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, after a long and racially-charged trial that transfixed much of the United States.
