President Barack Obama on Sunday described the death of Trayvon Martin as “a tragedy”, but called on Americans to accept the acquittal of the teenager’s killer, George Zimmerman. In a statement issued by the White House, the President acknowledged that passions were running high in the wake of the not guilty verdict. “But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken,” he said.
